Jay - Z meets Technology

Music, bling bling, cars, movies, tv shows and etc, Hip Hop has influenced and remixed all of these key industries and has taken them to new heights. However, one believes that the Hip Hop culture has yet to remix technology. But wait! You are probably saying to yourself right now, what about the iPod and the Sidekick? Well, those are perfect examples of Hip Hop influences from an end-user experience but not from a "creator experience". There is not if at "all" any Hip Hop influence from the creator side of the field. Your Myspaces, Facebooks, and LinkedIns are developed and ran without any type of Hip Hop jazz in mind, if I am wrong, please, my readers, let me know! This leaves an undeniable question on our plates.

What would the internet be if the Hip Hop community "really" remixed the internet like it has with music and sports? Would the world be ready? Would the world appreciate the innovation and creativity? I tend to believe.... YES! Why not? The Hip Hop community is arguably the most dominant culture currently in the world. Countries in Asian, Africa, and South America are riding the Hip Hop wave. I believe the internet will not achieve its "true" potential until we start seeing more heavy involved Hip Hop community from the creator side of the tech industry. To be continued...

Barack Obama, The Modern Day Dr. King?

O.k., it was not the "I HAVE A DREAM" speech but over labor day weekend Barack spoke to yet another large crowd of supporters, this time in Manchester, NH. He seems to amaze me how he brings people out to his political rallies as if he has won the presidency already. Barack has a political flair in him that I have only seen in two other people--Bill Clinton and Dr. King. Moreover, like these men, Barack brings a sense of "freshness" and sanity to American politics. He has the melting pot effect in which again Bill Clinton and Dr. King in the last 60 years have only been able to achieve. Granted, Barack still has to work on his public speaking abilities. I have to be honest with you, I yawwwwwwwwwwwn sometimes when I hear him speak.

There is obviously a disconnect from him speaking on television than watching him in person. And, I believe anybody that LISTENS to Barack would say "Uh--yeah!" about this too. O.k. , I might have a little bias in me because I did work for The King Center in Atlanta, GA for two years. Therefore, I have probably heard the "I HAVE A DREAM" speech so much, my dreams started having dreams. Anyway, Barack definitely brings donorism back into politics with extreme crowd outings that are diverse and balance. It will be interesting to see how the other candidates can match his "Rock Star" status in the up coming months.

When A Passion Dies

Today my friends, I witnessed the dead of something that should never prevail over our conscious, spirits or most of all--our hearts. I witnessed the dead of a passion for a theatre company that not only "had" potential but that had some of the most amazing actors and actresses in the city of Atlanta come through its halls of production. We must ask ourselves, what is the cause of our passions being lost? Well, for that theatre company, the founder said it best " there just isn't a black interest in supporting theatre 'with a message" - we live in a new world. I accept that now," this is a sad truth in America; especially, about theatre in Atlanta.

Now, I am not referring to blacks attending great productions in Atlanta or any other culture for that matter, it is a said truth because when one's passion is so vibrant, so bold, so filled with visions of futuristic success, there are road blocks, walls, gates and many other physical and mental contractions always and willing to stand in our way. Easy for me to say this but, my friends, don't let money, failure, lack of success or anything else stand in your path to greatest. As I and you know, we will and forever will have "a passion for an ism." I just hope and pray that that founder of that theatre company does not loose his somehow and best wishes to him in future endeavors.

Be safe, innovative and donoristic!

Oprah, What A Woman!

The "O" is what they call her. Oprah for a good part of her television career has been the "Ms. Santa Clause" of giving.

Now granted, yes she is a BILLIONAIRE and most of you are probably saying that she "should" be giving away some of those BILLIONAIRES of dollars. However, she does not have to. You see, Oprah or the "O" has a passion for donating or helping others. Whether if it is buying homes for Katrina victims or purchasing 300 cars for people that need them, the "O" has a giving spirit because she is passionate about it.

Recently, on one of her shows, Oprah gave each person in her audience a $1,000 dollars to go "Pay It Forward" to some one in need. Have you heard of a Talk Show host doing that before? As a result, a lot of amazing stories were created and a lot of people had smiles on their faces and stress lifted off their hearts. The world needs more Oprahs or people like her. In comparison, Bill and Melinda Gates and other wealthy people have their gift giving attitudes; however, none have more of a donoristic, "Pay It Forward" effect than the "Queen of Daytime TV" herself. I guess you can say that Oprah puts the "O" in helping others. =)
